The access to Serro can be made by car, usually passing through the small town of Curvelo, or coming along the charming natural scenery of Serra do Cipó. Buses from major cities are also available to Serro, regularly from Belo Horizonte, the most important city close by and the natural international connection in Brazil. If you plan to take a flight, the closest you can get is Diamantina (88km). Flights are available starting from Belo Horizonte every weekend.

If you decided to come by air to Serro, the best way is via Belo Horizonte and Diamantina. From São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro, the international main hubs, you should catch a flight to Belo Horizonte. Flights are offered by major airline companies and are available on a daily basis, night or day. With an extra R$200 (approximately), a flight to Diamantina straight from Belo Horizonte International Airport is offerd by Trip Linhas Aéreas. Since there are only two departures per week, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, you can enjoy some of your spare time in a Belo Horizonte hotel.

By Car

The closest major cities and natural connections in Brazil are Belo Horizonte (330 km), Brasília (753 km), Rio de Janeiro (805 km), São Paulo (933 km) and Vitória (846 km).

In this case, the distance is approximately 234 km.

Through the regular road, via Curvelo (BR 040 and BR 259), the distance between Belo Horizonte and Serro is of 330 km. The road quality improves substantially, but travellers must be aware with the large trucks that travel at high speeds. Views are still spectacular, mostly right after passing by Curvelo.

By Bus

Viação Serro, Saritur and São Geraldo are the interstate bus companies connecting Serro to the rest of Brazil. Viação Serro is the only one that serves Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais' capital. In this case, from Belo Horizonte to Serro they provide daily schedule at 07:00, 15:00 and also 22:15 on Saturday. From Diamantina, daily service is also available at 15:45, excepting on Saturday. Getting Around Serro

Since Serro is a quite little town, getting around is truthfully easy. In just a few minutes you can get across Serro and visit main attractions. However, if you plan to visit waterfalls and districts you can arrange a taxi ride, usually for a fair price.
